For every megawatt of residential solar power SolarCity installs in 2014, the GivePower Foundation will donate a solar power system and battery to a school without electricity.
When you go solar, you're helping to build a cleaner future for your home and for the world.
It takes approximately 160 solar energy efficient homes to produce one megawatt.
SolarCity co-founder and CEO, Lyndon Rive, installs a panel on a school in Nicaragua in 2013.
To make clean renewable energy accessible to those who need it most and reduce the world’s dependence on finite, polluting power sources.
The GivePower Foundation is a SolarCity nonprofit organization committed to extending the environmental and social benefits of clean renewable energy across the world. We’ve teamed with buildOn, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building schools in some of the economically poorest countries in the world, including Nicaragua, Haiti, Malawi, Mali, Nepal and Senegal. Through our partnership, we will train buildOn employees and work closely with local communities to install and maintain their solar power systems.
